In the Sun yesterday, It said Michelle Collins might be brought back as Cindy Beale to bring the show back to it's ratings. Cindy died in the show remember. If they did this, I think the show might be axed before the next World Cup starts.
Seriously though I have heard that Sharon, Frank, Grant & Peggy are all returning. Coronation Street is successful without having to do this why does Eastenders have to do this, they're just been lazy
Soaps work best with likeable characters and let's face it EastEnders has lost a hell of a lot of those over the last few years and replaced them with some truly awful ones. So I think the return of a few old faces would inject some life into it, as long as they don't just rely on them to carry the show on.
If Corrie suddenly lost Ken, Rita, Fred and Audrey in one go it would have to really on some of the lesser liked characters, and lets face it are a few to choose from, just like in any soap.
Finally, cast your mind back a year or so when Corrie tried to boost their viewing figures by bringing back Bet Lynch. It may have all gone tits up but every time Julie Goodyear appeared on screen the figures increased.
