That was one of the best EE episodes! It started as a bizzare dream with Kathy in a prison and Pat as the prison guard didn't it?

I don't recall it starting with the dream! I remember Kathy telling Pat she had this dream, but Im pretty sure the episode didn't feature the dream! Anyway, Im keeping my eye on UK Gold. Today was the first episode of 1997 so we've still got a way to go.

Yes, I'm almost certain it did. I seem to remember Pat overlooking Kathy in a prison cell where Kathy is looking through a photo album where all memories of her life are - photos of Pete, Donna, Ian, Wilmott Brown etc.

Ask me! I've got it on video! <wishing I'll get video capture> Yes, it's true, before the opening-titles, there WAS the dream with Pat as a guard overlooking Kathy in a prison cell, for all the adulteries she's commited!

I knew there was! I thought I was going mad for a second there!

That seems a very strange way to open the epsiode IMO. Especially a show thats meant to be lifelike. Authough Ive seen a few episodes of brookside where for some reason memories have appeared on the screen too.

I quite like the Cinematic style that was on Parky even if it made the credits strange.

Why was Casualty changed back anyhow, what's wrong with the effect?

Yes it did start with a dream, but in my opinion it was one the worst eps of EE ever, it was like something you'd see on 'Days of our lives' or 'Home and Away' really, really bad!

Hope everyone is having a good xmas day!

What's wrong with it? Why have it in the first place should be the question!! Bit of a bizarre gimmick to use IMO - they did it with the Two Ronnies show this morning too. It's unnecessary.

What was that effect? I found it very difficult to read the credits like that?

Also, has anyone been keeping track of the MediaGuardian quiz question (2b. How many times will Albert Square's lip-quivering Lisa say 'Phil' on Christmas Day (in both episodes combined)?)

I put down 6 on my entry.

See the Parkinson FRV? thread. I hate it personally, I like nice clean video! http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Nah! British soaps are far too much concerned with 'reality' IMHO. Especially when the reality they portray is so unrealistic anyway. We need some more interesting fantasy scenes. They can reveal more about someone than entire year worth's of episodes sometimes.

Mind you, Home and Away did have the ghost of Bobby on a fridge door...

Yup! Reality's a vital ingredient of a good drama/soap! So stick with nice clean VT!

Last time they tried these scrolling credits in 1998 they also superimposed credits over the first couple of scenes. They didnt look very good, and were dropped early last year.

An example of this: you're right - doesn't look great!
