'EastEnders' axes new Moon brothers

Jake and Danny Moon have been axed from EastEnders after just three months on screens.

The brothers, played by Joel Beckett and Jake Maskall, will bow out this summer as part of an "explosive" storyline.

The move comes as the soap seeks to resposition itself away from its gangster-led plotlines, which has been attributed as one of the reasons for its recent ratings slump.

"Both Joel and Jake have brought considerable talent and energy to the show," said an EastEnders spokesperson.

"This decision is no reflection on them, it's just the way the programme is going at the moment. We thank them for all their hard work and wish them every success for the future."

I thought the reason why we had ganster-lead plotlines was to attract viewers. I personally thought the moon brothers were alright.

Surely Billy Murray would be the first to go if it was down to gangster characters, he's the biggest one of them.

Surely the moon brothers could have just become general characters, they don't have to be gangsters.
Though they're on about getting rid of two gangster brothers, and yet bringing back Grant & Phil, it's never right.

Well, they brought back Dirty Den, and that kinda failed - why bother bringing old characters back?

the Mitchells weren't gangsters, just 'ard men, innit.

That is terrible news. They are hardly gangsters. Like someone else has said - Phil is coming back, Grant is being lured...........What are they?

Danny Moon has brought some comedy to the show as well, and he's cute - in a rough, cheeky kind of way. They are both also very popular with the female viewers of Eastenders.

Shame, another mistake made.

It just highlights the mess the show is STILL in.

Corrie can attract Sir Ian Mckellan, but there was a rumour that EE was after Jason Donavan!

I think they could of at least dropped one of the Moons as together they were rather boring, in fact their relationship seemed very close at times if you catch my drift!!

I hated Phil so I for one aren't looking forward to seeing him back, Grant was much entertaining. Is Kathy still coming back?

By the way, is it just me or is anyone else getting bored with the Sam & Chrissy fight for the pub and Zoe's bloody moaning?
