Were these police station scenes filmed at Merton on the old set for The Bill?

No they weren't - the Merton sets are now being stripped by a new owner as Wimbledon Studios/Media Village never worked and the company went into administration

The whole Merton site, previously operated as Wimbledon studios, has been acquired on a 15 year lease by Persian broadcaster Marjan hasn't it?

I'm guessing this could also mean the end of the old Family Affairs set as well, unless the new owners decide to keep it and hire it out?

Are the sets standing or in storage? I'd imagine the Persian broadcaster will want to use the studio space to make shows in, and I doubt Family Affairs interiors will be quite what they are looking for? Or did they build more practical buildings (like Holby) which were shot in a location style?

There is obviously some general purpose studio space, as at least one series of 'Tipping Point' was recorded there.

I was referring to the external set, which has been used quite widely for a range of productions since Family Affairs ended.

The sets for The Bill were removed and replaced with a 'media village' that nobody wanted to rent space in except the custody suite and hospital, these sets were physical rooms decked out like a police station (and even had the Met's cell fitting firm come out to refurb in 2006)

Tonight's episode saw the aftermath of Jim's passing, as well as Stan's death, and apparently a bit of a go at bringing back the songtage - slow overhead crane shots of the various affected characters to Tony Bennett's version of Fly Me To The Moon.

Even more unusually, the song then continued over the entirety of the end credits. There was a worrying moment when I thought I saw the credits do their usual one-frame stutter before everything starts sliding about and the CA pipes up, but that didn't happen, nor was there an "If you've been affected..." which I think there was last night.

Still managed to slightly ruin the moment by going straight from the credits into the doof-doof "BBC une" sting, though...

Going OT for a slight moment, but found this on YT:

a promo for 1988 EastEnders historical war spinoff Civvy Street, featuring a 1940s interpretation of the theme tune. Jazzy saxophones a full five years before that abysmal 1993 effort.

There was originally intended to be an Action Line. It was dropped.

Despite Red Bee's reputation on here sometimes, we do try, you know Wink

I'm glad Action Line was dropped. I feel it is over used at times. It should be used when necessary but definitely sparingly. Whose decision is it? Is it down to the channel team (i.e. controller etc.) or down to the programme team or someone else?

Try harder! We won't rest until BBC One pres/programming has reverted to the Balloons and we're back in 1997!

(Sorry, that seems to be the standard view on here lol)

There's still lots of reasons to have the Action Line up. I mean you can't just leave those really sensitive viewers having the thought of one of the storylines spinning around in their head. Although EastEnders seems to use it when the issue is really important for a majority but not after just any death or dramatic event. There could always be a link at the end of the credits to the BBC website like Hollyoaks currently does for support.
