I cant understand why Eastenders haven't killed Jim off- especially as it would have given Dot (June) an opportunity to pay tribute to the actor! Have to admit I believe that the rise in ratings, and wins against other soaps is tribute to the improvement in the storylines and changes made by Dominic Treadwell-Collins- most of which have improved the viewing quality.

Dot was said to have visited his character in tonight's episode.
It is dragging on a bit and not that I am eager to see his character killed off, I feel not only would it be better for the family as opposed to mentioning the character he once portrayed creating a sense of ongoing life, however also because we've currently characters who would have spent time with Jim plus we've got Nick back in the show (not sure how long for) who also knew him well. Seems like it would be nicer to have his character given an ending and allowing things to move on?
I mean all of this in the nicest terms.
They didn't kill him off before he died out of respect of the actor. And they haven't killed him off recently out of respect for the family. I envisage that'll be a storyline for 2015 however.

Yes, as I remember Brookside used to roll the same sort of credits over a shot of all the cast and crew waving at the camera.

Brookside did it first back in the 1980s and 1990s. Yet still a nice tribute to all involved in production, and also an opportunity to acknowledge former cast and crew lost this year, as they also do.

Isn't the show written/recorded many months in advance of the air date? Therefore it would probably feel a bit forced if they changed it at this point, like when they recorded an extra scene when Michael Jackson died.

Filming is usually two months in advance, or quicker in the lead-up to Christmas, so by the end of the break they are back two months in advance. The inserts for references to current events are usually done same day of broadcast.
The writing is an entirely different matter and as you say can be significantly ahead of the filming schedule.

No they weren't - the Merton sets are now being stripped by a new owner as Wimbledon Studios/Media Village never worked and the company went into administration
Were these police station scenes filmed at Merton on the old set for The Bill?
