Just wanted to see If youed like to see a new Eastenders ident with the balloon gliding behind the vic with the charcters running around. Similar to the 'market' lifestyle ident.

For about 12 months before Central became 'Carlton (Central Region)', they used a 'Carltonised' logo instead of the traditional 'cake':

CENTRAL

and in London was the Carlton equivalent:

CARLTON

The many variations of the logo included an ident specifically for Coronation Street. There would be a row of red Ns on the screen, in perspective to look like they're going into the distance. The background was an orang/yellow type colour. Each had a white squiggle eminating from the top of the right-hand vertical part of the N. It was meant to represent a row of Weatherfield-esque terrace houses - i.e. Coronation Street itself. The squiggle being smoke from the chimneys.

After a few moments all the Ns fade away except the one appropiately positioned for either the word CENTRAL or CARLTON, as required. The rest of the appropiate word then appears in black writing, but the N remains red with chimney smoke eminating.

The mix of the then current Carlton jingle for this particular ident was in suitable Corrie style - sounding like it was played on brass instruments like Corrie's theme tune.

So, if Carlton did it for Corrie, I don't see why the BBC haven't thought to do it for EastEnders already by now!

I voted no to a Balloon ident in Albert Square, for the reason that are ready plenty of balloon idents to choose from, some of which hardly ever get an airing.

If anything the BBC should scrap some BBC1 idents such as the awful daytime ones such as: Market, Bungee, Carnival & skateboarders.

I enjoy the scenic idents like the forth bridge ones, or the felixstowe one. Smile

Make the most of the balloons, because they won't be around for ever! Wink

Now that is a brilliant idea, shame about the balloons though, TIME IS RUNNING OUT!!!

They should make an ident where the balloon is flying over the Sqaure (where Arthur's bench is). The camera andgle should be above the balloon, and in the distance you could see central London with it's sights.

That'll prove rather difficult seen as 'Albert Square' is in Elstree studios in Hertfordshire! Smile

And I don't fancy a computer generated ident, because thats what you would have to use to get the effect u wanted.

Anyone who recalls Carlton in 1997 will remember the short-lived soap opera 'London Bridge'. This programme was always preceded with a yellow and red ident which started off as the tube map, which then zoomed into London Bridge station which, as regular users of the tube will know is an interchange station thus labled with an O, and then letters CARLT and N appeared around this O to reveal that you are in fact watching Carlton!
This was accompanied by generic stationesque bussle and someone whistling the Carlton 'dur du du derrr' jingle. Very nice!

I don't think BBC ONE should have a special EastEnders ident - because then there's the argument 'Why doesn't 'Animal Hospital' have its own ident with a pig in the balloon's basket' etc.

It is a really good idea but I think that an ident made just for soaps.

BTW: Does anyone else fell that there is no need to put trailers on the credits of eastenders i hate them.
