Can anyone remember the 'jazzy' version of the theme music played on EastEnders quite a few years ago? Did anyone like it, because I did!

And does anyone have the full version of the music that's played now, (not the older version of when it first started, the newer one, shortly after the jazzy version).

Yeah I remember it! Only lasted 9 months because of a public outcry.
When I seen it again on UK Gold, I actually realised that it was so much better than the original.

It wouldn't sound out of place in a lift.

Was that the same time they changed the end bit so instead of dum-dum-dum..... they had that rather tacky build up music instead? It has only been heard on the programme again on the 15th anniversary episode.

Did they not use a very bad drum roll type thing to end it?

No, if I am thinking of what you are thinking it is the rather cheesy piano music that builds up to the main theme.

Its only used when something sad, emotional or its someones funeral so it isn't heard very often.

Although, the jazzy drum roll did consist of about 5 different drum sounds instead of the usual 1 they had previously and have now.

Does anyone have the Eastenders jazzy music?

I liked that alot, but on hearing it a few months ago, I did think it rather tacky now. It suited EE in 1994, when our musical tates were Whigfield, Take That etc.

7 years on, and we have Geri, Hear'Say etc.. (need I say more!!)

we haven't nudged an inch in the world of progressive music, although, EE Jazzy does sound awful now.

I have mentioned this before, but Corronation Street needs a new theme tune!!! Perhaps they will have a special theme for Alma's death/funeral?!!

I don't care if they do, because C-Street is utter tripe watched by people with very low levels of intellegence. In my mind, the average CS veiwer is like Daisy & Onslow from Keeping Up Appearences - I know I'm completly wrong (probably), but I'm just airing my opinion.

God, I only replied to this thread to ask from the 1994 Eastenders theme tune, and look, once again I have gone off into a rant!! Smile

I quite agree about Coronation Street Mr Voiceover.

I hope you realise the irony when you say its watched by 'Daisy and Onslow'. Given that the actor who plays Onslow also played Eddie Yates, Hilda Ogden's lodger in the Street for about 15 years!

I still have a tape kicking about of the 'jazzy' EE music, but knowing the quality of clips etc that you guys have come to expect, you'd probably be quite disapointed.

I'm not sure if I like(d) the EastEnders jazzy music. It was alright for some time I s'pose, but it did get on your nerves at times!
