on with the show

is Lucas a bit thick,
canceling the call on Trina's phone after she had died is a bit stupid considering the future investigate into her death would establish a time of death, say 13:30, then her phone would register the call she made to Denise at aproximatly the same time, and the call from Jorden being cut off so many minutes later, say 13:35. So they would know somebody else was there to cut off Jorden's call 5 minutes after she had died

Just watched the first 30-seconds of the show and the titles actually do look better on screen, though the clouds are a bit cheap - but the endcap is awful. Regardless of the executive producers personal opinion, the scroll up looks far far better than the cheap shadow effect they've got now. If he really wanted rid of it, they perhaps should have tried the "East" "End" "ers" flash onto screen like they used to do (and perhaps still do) in the trailers.

P.S. Anyone got the EastEnders Revealed titles from a few years back which basically had shots of Albert Square but with images of the map stuck around them and a fairly drastic reworking of the theme?

I see they've finally updated the BBC Three logo on the endcap, complete with hideous drop shadow.

The opening titles aren't too bad on screen. I suppose it could've been much worse. One thing that's bugging me is the 'BBC' letters on the opening titles are transparent, but on the closing titles they're black, which looks very cheap.

I like the zoom at the end to show the whole map after the credits have rolled. They look better on screen.

Notice also the Thames is centred on the end credits now, rather than at the bottom of screen - this dates back to when the credits would flash up aligned above it. Even when the 1999 ones were introduced they'd stopped doing that (I think they were centred at that point) so it's good they've sorted it. Not sure about the final pull-out though.

The fade-up looked much better, no idea why Santer has a problem with it. Drop-shadow is awful, but the music I really like - nice nod to the original theme.

I've not watched any of this week's episodes as yet, (am waiting to see if there is much difference in the omnibus on Sunday during the closing sequence) but I do agree from seeing image stills, of the new look that the blue is too blue for the River Thames!

There's to be a live episode on Friday the 19th of February 2010 to celebrate the shows 25th anniversary.

The ultimate test of who can act, who can improvise if needs be and viewer games of spot the boom mic and as it'll be dark at 8pm in February, spot the dodgy outdoor lighting. Should be great. I've been wondering how long it was going to be before EastEnders did a live show - Coronation Street had a live episode in 2000, The Bill has done live episodes too so it was only a matter of time.
