[You're not wrong. It used to be great drama, now its like an embarrassing foreign daytime soap with a hint of panto thrown in for good measure.

Each to their own but I think EastEnders knocks spots of Corrie, especially at the moment and if you're looking for panto tune into in Emmerdale, the only soap I know that uses the same plot lines again and again. Ooh I wonder who's going to fall in love and then cheat behind their partners back this week!

You're comparing apples with oranges. They all have their own styles - but those other soaps haven't lost what makes them them .

EastEnders, compared to itself, has lost its way completely.

Emmerdale has become very panto in recent years I'd agree and the sentimental music grates on me, but one thing it has never lost is.. like Gavin says.. itself.

And it's mostly down to that favourite word of 'continuity' again.

I know, it is ridiculous. Someone who has never been in the driving seat before suddenly steeling a car and running someone over is impossible.

Joyriding is committed pretty much exclusively by people under the legal driving age. Most of what they pick up with regards to car control is seen through monitoring whoever's been driving them about. Therefore they'll know how to get a car moving, safety is the last thing on their minds.

That being said, within the context of EastEnders, Lauren may loathe her dad to the ends of the earth and beyond but she's not stupid enough to drive a car at her old man. Mind you she dates Ian's dippy son who has all the personality of a cauliflower so her hit-and-run on Max wouldn't be the first silly thing she's done.

sorry, the actor was Lance in Dr Who (Runaway Bride) Confused

anyway I thought she was getting all upset about Kevin

Wonder when the trueman's updated their CCTV system in the shop

when we saw Shirley and Heather watching the CCTV footage last week it was on a DVD yet when Patrick was attacked last year Kevin viewed the footage on a video cassette, and the cameras were in different positions Confused

also do CCTV systems record all four screens at once

So what's your point?
Maybe the cameras fell down, or the new cameras came as part of the new CCTV system and couldn't be installed in the same places.
Or alternatively it's a very convenient plot device for this saga between Shirley and Phil. Yeah I'd go for that.

They can do. Some clips shown on World's Wildest Police Videos (where pretty much all the clips are from America, strangely enough) and Disorderly Conduct have actual footage taken from a CCTV recording that record more than one feed in one go in the same fashion as it's happened on EastEnders.

All you realistically need is a box capable of accepting multiple inputs and something to record it to. It's not difficult if you know what you're doing and it's a common setup so far as hotels go with a need to monitor multiple corridors and exteriors in one fell swoop.

How is your knowledge of early 1980's camcorder technology?

The VHS video that Pauline had kept in a box for 20 years looked very good quality - maybe even broadcast quality.

that is a good point, especially when you see tv from the 1980s it looks very shabby compaired with todays quality
