I'd have thought it more of a pain for pretty much all male teenagers never mind the actors because it usually occurs at the most inconvenient time.
It would appear Peter Beale's voice broke last week as well.
I'm not sure whether Jay's voice is breaking or whether he was choked up with emotion after the events in question because the next scene after that was the normal voice again. Most likely filmed out of sequence though. A very good actor for his age though, Barbara Windsor singing his praises at the soap awards recently.

Nomination for the most cringe worthy scene of the week:
Ben Mitchell "dancing". Was it dancing or did he have an accident with some itching powder?
Who in their right mind would tap dance to the Kaiser Chiefs anyway?

Yes, he fell down the stairs in the Vic between filming scenes.
As far as I remember, he got taken to hospital and had a couple of days off.
The inevitable Health & Safety investigation took place but I don't know the outcome.

Incidentally they're now filming for October. The rumour machine says the shooting schedule is so far ahead in preparation for relocation to probably Pinewood (or wherever it was) in preparation for filming in High Definition. Carry on at this rate by the time we get to Christmas they'll be filming to just short of Easter 2009 which is a bit late next year on April 12th.

thanks for that, must have missed it, read about Maggie Jones (Blanche in Corry) having her fall hence Blanche's sling the other week, which wasn't explained.
there's an old eastenders out take where Barbra Windsor nearly fell down the pub stairs whilst Grant is on the phone. not surprised they have accidents as the vic flat has steps down to all the rooms, don't get why the set designers put steps in as there isn't really any need for them

For a man who can visualise houses that don't even exist, you do surprise me.
The upstairs hallway is on a raised deck so that the actors can "step down" the staircase. If the whole set was flat on the studio floor there wouldn't be a step at the top of the stairs.
Think "Fawlty Towers" - the upstairs has a three-step up > three-step down to give the illusion of a staircase.
Its a standard TV trick - but it looks obvious in EastEnders when the actors enter the kitchen or living room.
Its not helped by the obvious concrete sound underfoot when they step down into said rooms.

Speaking of the Vic, every man and his dog is living there again in the Tardis. There appears to be the bathroom, the living area, the kitchen and two (three?) bedrooms to house Phil, Peggy, Archie, Ben, Ronnie and Ricky, with occasional visits and stopovers by Roxy when she's not all over Sean.
Mind you the Slater house is also an occasional Tardis in disguise, as is Pat's house. The Slaters have six people there, Pat's crammed in another six people and a dog yet the strange thing is the entire square is littered with empty properties that you can buy after working an hour somewhere on the Square.
Sometimes I wish real life would be a lot like EastEnders life as it sure would make a lot of things easier, like buying a house for the price of a pint.

I love the way that if you're not in the right clique, everybody just ignores your answer and thanks the people who come along afterwards.
I won't bother next time.

sorry, nick thank you for the answering my question as well
I wasn't being personal just quoting the last person to answer my question to say a general thank you for answering it
i get ignored on another website and I'm a moderator
Gavin, thanks for the explanation about the upstairs of the vic, didn't think about the need for stairs on a studio set.
it's quite easy to visualise the internal layout of a building that does not exist, how do you think architects plan a building before they build it
