Put The Telly On
Last time I tuned in it was almost like watching a cartoon.

What has happened to EastEnders? It used to be about real hard-case storylines, now it's a complete shadow of it's former self. Admittedly I guess it picked up a bit with the Christmas love triangle storyline but since then.....?

It needs something really dramatic to happen (not like the pathetic fairground disaster from 2004) like a huge plane crash/gas explosion on the square - (perhaps as they're rebuilding at Pinewood this could be a possibility). Bring in Russell T Davies for a few episodes and put it on the front cover of the RadioTimes. Something like that would probably get me watching regularly again, but it seems unfortunately producers aren't willing to stretch the budget anymore.

Sorry I've let my imagination run wild again.

There is a hard-case storyline coming up - child sex abuse in a forthcoming storyline.

The plot - which has been in development since the end of last year - will see Bianca Jackson's (Patsy Palmer) 15-year-old step-daughter Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) at the fore as she struggles to deal with the actions of her step-father, Tony.

But to say EastEnders need something dramatic to happen is Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad . I have just looked at the last two pages of the corrie thread I see you comment on that soap often and hence watch it. What is happing in corrie that is so dramatic at the moment, its have about two storyline at the moment and a very weak cast. One reason for that it has being too storyline-led for the last 2 years - every storyline has being made out to be dramatic, when it is not.

But there is alot going on in EastEnders at the moment, the most its has had in years!

Listen, sonny, there's no point in getting cross with foumers because they like Corrie and not EastEnders.

If you had been here when the site started 8 years ago you would have seen more support for EE.

Its crap, and aside from a minor improvement a couple of years ago it has been crap for half a decade.

Its not our fault.

I'm not getting cross because foumers like Corrie and not EastEnders. I'm cross because on this site corrie can do no wrong whereas everything EastEnders does is crap/sh*t.

Absolute tosh. Read the Corrie thread properly. It comes under criticism all the time - but on balance it has been the better programme for the past few years.

Coronation Street would be the better soap opera but I can't stand their charactors with their over the top Northern voices and silly uninteresting storylines.

Someone from Thames Valley can't stand the north?

Who'd have thunk it?

I think what Eastenders needs is a break. They ought to take the show off the air for at least six months to rebuild the viewer's craving for the programme. Four nights a week, every week eventually runs out of steam. A long break would be good, not every year, just as a one off perhaps. And then it would be interesting to catch up with the characters later in the year.

Sorry Jonathan, are you referring to EastEnders or Eamonn Holmes, or both?

where have billy and honey been hiding since Bianca moved into pats with her brood?

Jay was getting a bit croaky last night, breaking voices must be a real pain for male teen actors
