I loved it! Fantastic! The comedy moments were great - the repeat performance of the "You bitch!... You cow!" scene that Pat and Peggy did years ago when Peggy discovered the affair, was brilliant, and it was timed perfectly so loyal viewers would be left wondering for a couple of seconds 'I bet Pat's gonna call her a cow next!!!' Also the girl from My Family shouting at her dad on the phone while at someone else's dad's funeral, and the cut from the vicar to Bianca... just great I thought the sepia flashbacks were a bit strange though

Shame they mixed from Julia's theme to the normal version for the credits rather than using the whole thing
They've never used the whole thing anyway. Normally they use 30 seconds or less of Julia's Theme, and then cut away to the normal theme without the dum dums.
Thought the archive and voice over was laying it on very thick...
Good to see Frank's kids back though.
I agree. Just watched on iPlayer. A good episode and a good send off for Mike but instead of the sepia flashback clips and the scene where Bianca returns they should have just zoomed out on a photo of Pat and Frank (as Honey mentioned apparently on Pat's bedside) but obviously EastEnders just don't think of continuity like they used to. Saying that though, the scene with Pat and Peg talking about old times worked well.
The writing has completely changed since Frank joined the show but fair play to the production team for creating a nice tribute.
Thanks to StevieB for posting that. Judging purely from those last few moments, it looked like a wonderful tribute to Mike Reid, and the character of Frank Butcher.
This question might seem daft, as this situation has probably occurred in the past, but when Julia's Theme is used on a mid-week episode, is there a set protocol for the Sunday omnibus?
(I might be wrong, but weren't all previous Julia's Theme moments timed to coincide with Friday episodes - or Thursday as it used to be - in order that it would still fall at the end of the show on the omnibus??)
In this instance, will they just play the same footage without the music and cut to Thursday's episode, or has there ever been an instance where they've used the music mid-episode on an omnibus? In which case, what happens when the music reaches its climax and the dum dums kick in?
It seems so integral to the moment, that it would be a travesty to show the same moment without the music, especially as this was a tribute to a very important actor and character.

I'd guess they will play it without the music and just do a slow 'fade to black'.
