I don't questioning her abilities as an actress, merely the material used, which for the casual viewer reinforced the concept that EastEnders is a very depressing programme.
As for "remembering the lines" - autocue can be an amazingly helpful reminder!
Autocue is almost never used in drama... June Brown is a highly experienced and well respected stage and screen actor - and has worked in TV drama since the days of as-live (if not live) production. Learning your lines is a craft skill for actors.
You would have to use a freestanding autocue - as actors seldom look to camera (they usually look at each other or somewhere else)
In the days of live and as-live TV drama some actors DID write their lines on bits of set, their cuffs or on props. (Hospital soaps were great - as the doctors could have crib sheets on a patient's notes) William Hartnell did this in Doctor Who - which was as-live.
