I agree the Brannings are a brilliant family and the 4 actor are also very good, especially Lorna Fitzgerald and Madeline Duggen as Abbi and Loren. I think they are should be nominated for best new commers in the 2007 soap awards

now quite why corry can't bring in a family and give them a story is beyond me, what exactly have the mortens done?

Loren as of now hasn't really had that much to sink her teeth in too,But Abi on the other hand has had alot of screen time and proved how good she is.

It's hard to believe the family only arrived in June/July of 2006 Shocked

Anyone know when 'Frank Week' begins?

I assume the BBC won't be marketing it as such.

I merely quote what was in the papers

People often criticise ITV for adding extra episodes of soaps, but this Christmas it is BBC1 which have done so

In total there has been an extra 4 and a half episodes on top of the usual 4 episodes during this fortnight

But that's for two weeks only. Not the story the year round.
ITV have aired six episodes of Emmerdale week in, week out all year, and now have double helpings of Corrie once a week, every week.
EastEnders, by comparison, is hardly on the air compared to Emmerdale.

Big spoiler news alert added to the news outlets today. The Guardian couldn't be sure whether such a storyline was taking things too far for a soap.

EastEnders has penned one of its most brutal and controversial storylines to date, in which schoolboy Jay Brown is stabbed by a wayward gang of hoodies.

Walford veteran Dot Cotton (June Brown) will be the gang's first target when they begin terrorising her in her own home and on the street, forcing Shirley (Linda Henry) to ward them off.

However, when Jay's home life is turned upside down as his father Jase (Stephen Lord) starts dating Dawn (Kara Tointon), temptation becomes too much for the youngster – played by Jamie Borthwick – as he begins to hang around with the group of hoodies himself.

Of the storyline, a source told DS: "The gang begin drawing Jay into the unknown when they offer him a knife. But when Jase finds it in his bedroom, he's furious and collars him. Jay falls foul of the knife himself, however, and viewers will be left wondering if he'll survive."

Details @ Digital Spy

EastEnders can be gritty when it wants to be and of course this issue has been in the news far more often than I'd like to see actually so this is a very topical storyline. Encouragingly, its been given to one of the better child actors on the programme who should be able to do the story justice.

Why remove this as a spoiler when it's been in all the papers today?

Surely anyone reading this thread is someone who knows or who wants to know anyway.

It doesn't spoil one's enjoyment of the programme.

EastEnders has been much better recently - I for one am watching it again - every episode and making a point of not missing it.

Just upgraded to VirginPLUS and enjoying the abilty to record it!!! Ha Ha.

Now that is a darn shame, was one of my favourite charactors. He could have easily become one of the greatest on EastEnders. on the other hand, well, I don't care about him.

Not surprised is being axed, he's not had one major storyline since he's been in it. Let's hope there's more dead wood cut this year.

Crikey. Last night's episode, where they introduced Jane's brother, Christian, must have been one of the lowest points I can EVER recall on EE.

This character - so far (and I admit it's only been one episode) - is the worst and most despicable character I have ever seen on any tv soap.
