No, her agent has said she did not quit due to the baby storyline.

EastEnders baby plot to end early

A controversial EastEnders cot death storyline is to be brought to an early conclusion following almost 6,000 complaints to the BBC.

The story of Ronnie Branning swapping her dead child for another baby drew criticism from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (Sids) awareness campaigners.

The story will now conclude in spring.

The BBC had said there was "no inference that Ronnie's actions are in any way typical of a bereaved mother of a newborn baby".

It has now confirmed the storyline is "due to finish earlier than planned".

Whatever you may think of the storyline:

Have to say that Jesse Wallace is acting her socks off here - shows that she is actually a very good actress but often not allowed to show that with the usual Kat character.

She was excellent as Pat Pheonix in The Road To Coronation Street a few months back

They normally film up to around 8 weeks in advance, so if the story is ending sometime between March and May, they may not have to refilm anything, and have probably timed the ending of the storyline to avoid refilming.

what they will probably do is start filming the ending now instead of say in February so that on screen it ends in March instead of April

whatever the opinions of the storyline I agree Jessie Wallace is really showing her acting teeth with this one

There was a soap scriptwriter on BBC News yesterday, she was saying that it's a fairly regular thing to happen - storylines are changed/shortened as they go on for all sorts of reasons. For example they might start a particular story and then decide to curtail it because it isn't working or the actor isn't up to it

I hope this Baby Swap story isn't going to spoil Enders all the way up until April. Yesterday's episode was really badly edited. The scenes jumped about all over the place and then there was that really stupid scene with Jodie and her friend Poppy talking a lot of nonsense for about five minutes! Not good at all.

Jessie Wallace acted her socks off last night though!
