Figures rise and fall - and as the weather improves the absolute ratings usually drop. (Summer viewing is usually lower than Winter)
Rather than look at the size of the audience - look at the share - as that tells a better story as to whether a show is losing audience relative to other channels.

Apparently the viewing figures dropped to around the 8 million mark recently, which isn't surprising as last night's atrocious episode more or less confirmed my theory that the producers are trying to turn EastEnders into Byker Grove.
On their head be it - watch those viewing figures fall.

Another question, how often does the music (Julia's Theme) get used on a Monday episode? I might be imagining it, but I think it is normally saved for a Friday. Will the scene with Amira in the back of the taxi seem odd when it is shown on Sunday without Julia's theme over it?
Why did Amira get 'The Music'? She did not deserve it. She was not in the programme long enough, she didn't die, neither did she make a big impact on the programme. So I do not know why do got the special treatment.

That's the whole point I think. The storyline was very long winded so it was a relief for it to come to a conclusion which is why Julia's Theme was probably used. However because it was for a relatively minor character, that was why it was used on a Monday which means it won't be featured on Sunday's omnibus, as has happened on other instances when Julia's Theme has not occurred on a Friday.

Dot: "Dot Cotton will keep silence no longer"
Nice to see EastEnders still flowing with continuity errors then.

She was getting Tipsy at the time, so perhaps it was intentional

Yeah, it probably wad deliberate for Dot to refer to herself as Dot Cotton. In our heart of hearts, we all know her as Dot Cotton anyway.
I am sad that Lacey is leaving. I think she is one of the finest actresses ever to grace soapland, full stop. Along with Anita Dobson (Angie Watts in EastEnders) and Sue Jenkins (Jackie Corkhill in Brookside), Lacey could definitely set a scene on fire with incredible dramatic effect. (Sue Jenkins and Anita Dobson were always underrated, IMO.)
Let's hope they leave a door open for Lacey to come back.

We are at present. We missed the friday night ep for sports relief and we didn't have a double ep that week the way they usually do!
I think we're somehow behind an episode on BBC One at the moment because I am sure that last Monday's episode when Amera left WAS supposed to be the Friday before's episode and tonights, when Syed turned up at the end was supposed to have been last Friday's.
Does that make sense?

Hasn't there been a one hour ep since Sport Relief? And surely EE would have some notice that they're going to lose a Friday well in advance as it'd put all their timings/dates out of place?
That said, it does explain why there have been a couple of big episode on Mondays, and there has been direct continuation of cliffhangers from Friday onto Monday episodes which you don't normally get.

I'm sure I heard somewhere that they were going to have an hour eposide the other week, but couldn't for some reason and that's why their an episode behind. ( sorry for the lack of detail!)
