This may be a great move from the BBC. BBC4 will be transmitting programmes from 6am everyday from Christmas Eve onwards. I'm not sure if this is just for the Christmas period or whether this will be a regular thing. I really hope it is.

what about cbeebies?

Cbeebies already starts at 6am doesn't it? I'm not sure. It would be a great move for BBC4 to show The Learning Zone in an early morning slot, this would free up BBC2's late night schedule for films or late night programmes.
Here's hoping Smile

BBC3's time needs changing too.

Maybe this change will only apply to Sky/NTL etc. Freeview might still only broadcast the current hours. I doubt the BBC would drop Cbeebies for BBC4

Oops, it looks like it was a mistake from DigiGuide as the daytime BBC4 programmes listed are from BBC Radio Scotland.
I thought it was too good to be true Smile

No doubt the way BBC2's going, they would just switch to BBC News 24 earlier.

Yes that wouldn't surprise me at all. BBC2's lack of imagination and lazy scheduling at the moment is awfull. They don't even show any late night comedy anymore. It's either News 24 or Later with Jools Holland and that's our lot.

They could move CBeebies to share with 302 (which would necessitate moving the Community Channel to share with 301), allowing BBC4 to run on a 24 hour stream, with that stream reverting to 302 whenever two interactive streams are required during daytime - which really isn't very often at all. There's no doubt there is enough documentary and drama in the archive to allow BBC4 to run a daytime schedule and compete with the likes of ITV3 and More 4.

I think that the fact that these are Radio Scotland programmes means this is just a mistake by Digiguide, nothng to get carried away about.

There is an occasional bug on bbc.co.uk/whatson that muddles up schedules so that you get a channel with a bizarre mix of local and national radio stations and TV channels. Might be connected

Obviously this was never going to happen. CBeebies get higher ratings anyway, so if anything, it be the other way round!

Someone mentioned the 301/302 scenario. Generally The Community Channel airs 6-9am using "302" space, which generally doesn't cause any problems for interactive content, but in March the Commonwealth Games are in Melbourne, so presuming the BBC have an interactive service, it would run from around midnight to midday.

Perhaps The Community Channel could move to a 4-7am slot, airing after BBC3 closes but before CBBC opens.

Also, though I'm no fan of BBC Parliament I think considering how idle BBCi seems to be now during the week except for the odd snooker tournament or sporting event, I'm sure 301-303 could be refigured to maximise use of the space.
