All the Americans I know who watched it thought he was a really good host, but that the show was very weak.

It was originally going to be on ITV1.

This is the side of US TV that I really don't understand. They often pay a *lot* of money for these new shows, then often (and it is often) cancel them after only 1 or 2 shows. Completely impossible to determine whether a programme is successful or not in that time.

It has to be said as well that there are huge numbers of very successful US shows that only just managed to escape the axe after a few programmes. It makes you wonder how many babies they have thrown out with all that bathwater over the years.

And we thought it was just ITV that was guilty of this.
