Eamonn has presented on sport in the past, and I wouldn't be surprised if another broadcaster, or indeed ITV with their FA cup coverage from next season, tried to lure him into a sports presenting role.

Eamonn is a great live TV presenter and excels in news and interviews. I like that he is honest and down to earth - and that he doesn't stand there pretending to have an interest in testing lipsticks and face creams. Phillip and Holly come across insincere a lot of the time.
I guess it's moving with the times, but they have made This Morning a lot fluffier and dumbed down compared to when it had more of a journalistic grounding with Richard, Judy, Fern and Eamonn and Ruth's early days.
It has become tackier and so many features are sensationalist. But they get a lot of people commenting and sharing online, so I guess it works for them. And revenue through advertising must be doing well it.
It sounds like it will continue being fluffy and maybe E and R will be better out of it. It sounds like BBC Morning Live is more like how TM used to be.
Another broadcaster might offer E and R another live show. Maybe if Channel 4 ever want to record having a viewer at 12.30 - 2.10.

The socials are now as important to This Morning as it is for a news bulletin. Getting a segment to go viral is as important to a broadcaster to gain new viewers as it is to have the shows in the schedule in the first place.

I remember Eamonn used to to be the drive presenter at talkRADIO, before it went all tabloidy.

I could envision Eamonn on Times Radio.

Ruth and Eamonn were a big part of the TM 'family' for all these years. I remember how well they presented the emotional special edition on the day Denise Robertson passed away.

And I remember comments on this very forum saying that only Eamonn and Ruth could deliver such a sincere and heartfelt tribute to Denise, which I completely agree with.

I enjoy Phillip & Holly's presenting style and having Eamonn & Ruth on a Friday ends the week nicely. I feel like Alison & Dermot will end up being a Friday version of Phillip & Holly and, eventually, it'll just merge into one.
For instance, the provocative-looking vegetables this week - it's typical Phillip & Holly material, which isn't a bad thing (I found it funny), but Eamonn & Ruth have a completely different sense of humour, which appeals to people who, perhaps, don't tune in for the other four days. And that's why This Morning caters for people of all ages; it offers the best of both worlds (if you enjoy both presenting teams, you're laughing!).

I just can't see how Alison & Dermot will offer anything significantly different from the rest of the week and that will alienate a large part of the audience.

Well ITV were never going to move Phil or Holly on, were they?

Still remember Phil handing David Cameron that 'list' and having Ruth apologise for his conduct the very next day instead of himself.

Yeah that was awful.

I liked Fern's tweet tonight, commenting on the news about Eamonn and Ruth: "Oh no"...

Phillip and his ego really get carried away. Even this week he upset Andrew Neil during the paper review. I watched it live and it was cringe. Phillip will probably ban Andrew from appearing on his episodes from now on. He seems to get away with everything at ITV.

I am really sad to see Eamonn go. It really feels like Phillip overkill on ITV.

Having watched the clip to be fair to Philip, I think Andrew Neil’s description of events is a bit oversimplified there. I guess the Tweet doesn’t allow him to explain the full context of the conversation.

I don't see Holly leaving This Morning anytime soon as it's a gig that give her a lot of freedom to do other things.

I do envision her setting up a production label within Hungry Bear Media since that's owned by her husband so she produce her own shows or shows for other people.

I disagree because the question from Schofield was a response to Neil’s argument that Extinction Rebellion were overstating the climate change issue. It wasn’t just simply a reaction to his disapproval of that days actions, which is what the Tweet implies.

I still think Schofield’s question suggests he’d missed the point, but it still clearly a slightly misleading description of that exchange from Neil.

Good grief, an enormous generalisation there, presumably based on no more than a personal dislike of Schofield, as opposed to actual fact. What, exactly, has Phillip gotten ‘away with’ whilst being employed by ITV?

How can we possibly know what ITV are ‘prepared’ to offer Holly Willoughby?
