If they're so desperate to 'shake things up', why not alternate Eamonn & Ruth and Alison & Dermot every other week? That would keep everyone happy.
Or...adopt a similar style to GMB; Phillip & Holly on Monday-Wednesday; Eamonn & Ruth on Thursday; and then a 'feel-good Friday' with Alison & Dermot.
Dropping them altogether is totally wrong.

I imagine they’d never have three sets of presenters on a regular basis for cost reasons.

I'm sure the producers are saving some money by not sending Alison/Josie around the world to do the competitions links...
It isn't about shaking up the show for the sake of it, it's about future proofing the show. Dermot has clearly been a strong contender to replace Phil for a couple of years and Alison is by far the most popular member of the wider team.
Cost probably won't come into it and I suspect Eamonn and Ruth won't lose out financially initially at least as part of any deal to stay with the show.

I agree, a show like This Morning which has been running for a long time does need a refresh every so often.
It’s clear that the summer Fridays a few months ago were a way for the producers to test a variety of presenters that could potentially replace Eamonn and Ruth.

So wait until Phillip steps down to bring him in? As for Alison, I was looking forward to this chat-show she was rumoured to have landed. Surely, this would play to her strengths more as it would be produced to suit her presenting style. The cracks will soon show when Alison & Dermot get the hard-hitting interviews...
