Yes, but they wouldn't have wanted to say anything yesterday about Alison doing it today because of the storm that would have caused on socials and in the press beforehand. Doing it like they have makes her 'fitting in' be smoother.
Today was obviously her screen test / practice alongside Phillip.

Holly was off today as one of her children was poorly. Alison was asked to cover as she was there for the I'm a Celeb segment anyway.

Stop talking rubbish (Meridian AM). Not for us to speculate as to why but people take unexpected days off work all the time. This isn't them "screen testing" a presenter who has now presented the show multiple times or a last minute decision to kick Holly out instead of Ruth.

Was notable though how much more nervous and restrained Alison was with Phil - she pretty much led the show when hosting was Dermot but seemed to sit back today, though I guess as a last minute fill in she'd had far less prep than for a planned hosting gig.

Indeed they promoted Allison filling in yesterday as Holly taking a scheduled day off. No doubt now it’s run into a second day, they may have to explain further to keep the Social Media crowd from speculating.
Nonetheless if Holy’s child is sick and they have to self isolate for a period... will be interesting to see if Allison gets used again or whether they’ll just use Davina and Rochelle.

Davina has done it with Phillip a few times before. She is good.

It would depend on what they already had planned for Alison for today. If she was meant to be off filming somewhere they're going to keep those arrangements and back fill Holly's role
