This is the one channel that freeview needs at the moment and I'm sure that sky are getting pretty worried
. Confirmed here as well from a broadcast now email:
"E4 to launch on Freeview next month
Channel 4's digital entertainment channel E4 is to launch on Freeview
at the end of May, chief executive Andy Duncan confirmed today.
The launch will coincide with the start of the sixth series of Big
Brother. More follows..."

No big surprise - it made more sense to co-incide with the launch of Big Brother than leave it till later this year.
Also means I'll be able to get Big Brother USA after ours finishes!
More surprisingly is that E4+1 is also coming to Freeview, though it's expected it may just be a filler until More 4 arrives in the Autumn.

I don't think Sky will be that worried about E4.
E4 & E4+1 have a combined share of 1.0% (0.7 - E4 + 0.3 - E4+1) compared to 2.4% (2.0 - Sky One + 0.3 - Sky Mix) for Sky One & Sky Mix, Hallmark has a 0.8% and 1.0 for Living TV, all of which show a better mix of programmes than E4 at present.
E4 is not as good as it used to be. There is too much "Fool around with..." & repeats of Friends. It's not far enough ahead of Channel 4 showings to be of much use, apart from time-shifting programmes such as Desperate Housewives & ER.

This is excellent news.
Apart from a couple of channels, there is little incentive for me having ntl anymore. I only watch a bit of Sky One and a bit of Living TV. The rest is all on Freeview.
Bad news for Top Up TV though, losing one of their main channels. Wonder what they'll get as a replacement.

Yes this is excellent news for freeview. Pity I've only just found this, missed the printers now, but hey E4 +1 still coming.
Me thinks I need to contact C4....

There has been some talk (banting off the walls) of another film channel heading for Top Up. Mind this is only specualtion. I really can't see the insentive for TUTV anymore. E4 was one of the reasons many bought into TUTV, and now its gone.
Freeview is now shaping up to have a rather good year launch wise...
Teachers TV
Men and Motors
ITV News Channel has started to return (London, Central...)
More 4 (To launch soon)
E4
E4+1
And even some more rumours of a Sports channel. What more could you ask for?
Joel.

Matrix, you forgot ITV4.
What do people think about Sit-Up replacing either Bid-TV or Price-Drop with their two new movie channels? They should be able to fit onto 1 24hr stream as 1 channel stops as another begins.

Ahh thanks. Although what it'll be is yet to be seen.
Sit-up? Christ! But at least they would be 1 less shopping channel space. Freeview is cursed with the amount of shopping channels, CC should never have allowed Ideal World on the platform and I really hope they now have the sense not £ to fill any new spaces with something which will genuinly appeal to the audience.
