With regards of them rushing to Elstree for BBLB, would they have been able to extend the show if needs be? I know Dermot's always rushing the last caller to get off air in time but is BBLB done on a satellite feed so their booked slot would run out at that time anyway?

It might muck up the repeats later on.

That's a very good point. Just wondering if they could have been saved by that if there was absolutely no hope of getting things running up again (relatively) quickly about BBLB finished.

E4 went down during the Hollyoaks break, then when Hollyoaks returned it was part two of the episode from a couple of days ago. Very annoying!

Yes we just realised that too - very deja vu !!!!! Laughing Laughing

No sponsorship at the end of Hollyoaks - the end slate remained on screen for as long as possible before cutting to the frozen frame seen during the break, then an E4 logo which eventually cut to the next programme.

Humans aren't perfect, replace the computer and transmission controller at E4 with a gallery of humans and the end result would still have problems and would be far less slick.

A matter of opinion really. Without knowing who was in charge of transmission, a gallery of humans might have been more reactive. And maybe even no less slick.

The problem probably wouldn't have happened in the first place with a gallery of humans, but then if that was the case there are many more things to go wrong. A human is far more falible than a computer, a group of them co-ordinating their actions even more so. A computer is only as bad as the data that's been entered into it by a human, and that's not necessarily the controller on duty.

Mind you if it wasn't for the sort of software that's putting out E4 tonight the station probably wouldn't be on air in the first place

It was interesting how the endcap seemed to be on a seemless continuous loop - it continued for ages with it animating throughout. You'd expect it to freeze after it's usual few seconds on air.

Thats what I was confused about. They certainly made that go for a good while.

And when BBLB went to a (non-existent) ad break, the Big Brother animation of the real eye continued for a good few seconds. Also, did anyone else catch the countdown clock during the break of BBLB?

Another point while I'm here, why did E4 play out a static caption with the logo on it (in the wrong ratio and colour) when they have a perfectly good 'Programmes continue shortly' one? Surely they could have dug that out so it wouldn't confuse viewers?

They also showed the animated E4 logo a few times. Interesting to note that that same animation has been in use from very early on. Surprisingly, it's still used today on the idents. Does anyone else remember when the E4 DOG was 3D? I think that went away quickly.

It was probably designed this way in case of an occurrance like tonight's.
