If it's text only it's usually only in the lower quarter on the RHS - or if they do use the LHS without a video it's the full height.
Talking of ECPs and C4 though and I'm surprised they never rolled out the updated C4 version across all the channels. The text on E4's is often so big is spills off screen while the recent More4 and 4Music revamp seem to have dropped the timeline menu idea in favour of rather bland text on white backgrounds. E4 must surely be due for a revamp soon too - this look has been around quite a while now, possibly since Skins started.
I've been looking at the C4 branding guidelines, and I've been wondering, did they ever use those translucent and quarter-sized ECPs? I only ever remember them using the half-size ECP, and I don't think I've ever seen them without a video insert.

Last night there was an announcement on E4 at just after 11 to say they were swapping programmes around. I had already noticed the Inbetweeners 20min clash on Channel 4 and E4 earlier in the evening, why would they make a last minute change, did something over run on Channel 4?
