The announcer managed to squeeze in the comment at the end that it was something different using the film 4 colour.

Film4 ECPs are quite common on C4-owned channels.

I'm guessing the point being made is that a Film4 ECP was used on E4, to advertise the next E4 programme. They made a mistake.

The background "texture" is E4's though, not Film4's -- I don't know how those ECPs are generated, but it seems odd that the "right" background has been mixed with the "wrong" colour and font, no?

Isn't the background identical for all the cross promotions on E4? ie. Made to look like paper or some sort of material. On E4 only the colour and font change, unlike Channel 4 where the whole design changes.

Yeah the colour and font change but the background doesn't. Similar to the previous UKTV ECPs, where the background would change but the font of the channel the ECP was on would stay the same, so for example Dave's serif font would still appear when the promo was for something on GOLD even though the background would change to be similar graphic wise to the GOLD branding, or the other way round.

I've been looking at the C4 branding guidelines, and I've been wondering, did they ever use those translucent and quarter-sized ECPs? I only ever remember them using the half-size ECP, and I don't think I've ever seen them without a video insert.
