Hi ,
Im a bit miffed, I can t get a good signal
for the free view box so I cant get e4 more 4 etc
I have a sky box but don t subscribe to any package etc
I see e4 is on there, but only for pay,
this does nt seem right,
will these channels appear as freeview on the sky
box in the near future ? why are nt they free on there now ?
does anyone know ?
They are FTV, not FTA, therefore on Freeview boxes they can be received, and with satellite etc they are subscription services; e.g. with Sky they are availble with the Entertainment Mix. You really should get that mix, it's the best out of the lot!

Perhaps a new aerial is the solution so you can get the channels via Freeview. A local aerial installer should be able to advise you.
Only C4 and Sky know the details of the agreements between them. While E4 and More4 could go free-to-air I don't see that happening in the very near future. There
could
be changes when FilmFour changes drops subscription charges in July, but it too may well join one of the basic packages on Sky as opposed to being free-to-air.
When you say you can't get a good Freeview signal, are you basing that on a postcode predictor? They can sometimes be misleading. For example, the BBC/Freeview predictor says I am not in a Freeview area, when in fact I can see the Divis transmitter from here and signals are strong. (I'm told the reason for this is that being high up and on the east coast of NI I may get interference on occasion from Caldbeck or elsewhere).
A good aerial (and well made and securely wired connectors) makes a hell of a difference to reception in poor signal areas.

Not quite, Channel 4 Corp. has a conditional access agreement with BSkyB which incorporates all digital channels Channel 4 operate. The agreement was said to come to an end in 2007, however Channel 4 extended to 2008 before More4 was launched. Not much hope at the moment of any movement.
The analogue signal going will allow DTT signals to be boosted and all transmitters to be switched to DTT. The street below my house is so low down in the valley that they can't reach Pontop Pike transmissions, can't recieve DSat transmissions and certainly no cable. Try telling them to stick with relay 4 channel television. They've still got 4 years yet to wait for DTT. If anything the switchover should be brought forward.
And don't try telling me the Tories wouldn't turn off the analogue signal - just think of all the money...

Don't they get any TV at all then?

Indeed, it's not a party political thing at all.... it's called progress

Yeah, BBC1, 2, ITV and C4 from Shotleyfield relay. Incidentaly I use an indoor aerial in my bedroom and can only recieve BBC2 and ITV, despite being only 1 mile from the relay...
