I also noticed that during BB Live - its in widescreen - and the DOG was right in the corner, those watching in 4:3 would not see the E4 dog - does that break any rules?

E4 has always had its DOG outside the 4:3 safe area (during 16:9 transmissions). I guess they're not too bothered if not everyone sees it. It's the same principle as Sky News' Active DOG.

They seem same to make a huge exception during E4 Music though, when the DOG is opaque as well as 4:3 safe.

That might be something to do with music video playing - not playing "clean" or semi-clean versions of the videos. No channels runs without a DOG after all, even TOTP brand theirs.

soundcuts this year are ridiculous
Well, and I certainly don't mean this nastily towards Pete, but when you have a housemate with Tourettes, you've not exactly got much choice during the daylight hours.
Its nothing to do with the touretts - over the first couple of days things were fine, then at around 9pm last night, we have hardly had 3 - 4 full sentances an hour, and thats with Pete no where in site. Today has been terrible.
I think its more to do with them wanting us to make sure we watch the C4 HLs show now that its on at an even more competitve time of 9pm

Personally, I'm waiting for the eviction nights. What's Pete going to do when the following is said "This Is Davina, your live on Channel 4, please do not swear"
All they really need to cover Pete's involuntary outbursts of "w*nk" and "w*nk*rs" would be someone in the production
gallery with good reflexes and a bleep button? Sound gaps can still be used to cover other unbroadcastable audio.

I wouldn't class that as a proper E4 DOG though, its more of a subtitle thingy top left on the 4:3 border.
The E4+1 DOG though on E4 Music seems to have a mind of its own as to when it appears or not (I reckon its controlled manually) and is only just 4:3 safe. My TV chops that DOG in half if you put the Freeview box in Center Cut-Out mode.
