The sets look many magnitude better than those of the BBC or ITN.

And the DW bug, which some may find annoying, is nowhere as irritating as those of the BBC.

Looks like there is some spare space on the RTE transponder - I wonder if RTE have sublet some space to DW and TVE to get them into expat homes in UK Sky Digital homes.

TVE used to show some bizarre light entertainment shows (almost as "interesting" as RAIs) DW is an acquired taste (which I never really acquired) - the non-news programmes always seem a bit... cheap... and the mangled US/European accents grate very quickly. That said - apparently Alistair Appleton (he of BBC daytime and House Doctor on Five) used to present on the channel - as did Alistair Yates... (Must be an Alistair thing...)

Looks very snazzy, for most people and myself you don't imagine German TV to be like this. But all the graphics and the fact a few of the straps say Journal, it seems to look like a crossover between Eurosport News and TV5 Europe (Or as they say; Teeveesanc, dead fast), but the difference is that TV5 is more the Best Of French TV, and it's been going for years but 4.30pm, weekdays, Questions un de pour Champion, or what is the French version of Going For Gold, with the same SFX.

OT; but what is DW's role on German TV? Is it more of a BBC role or something more like Channel 5, without the porn.

Now you mention Rai, I really do miss that channel from when I used to watch it (along with DW and TVE) on Cable all those years back. I wonder whether Rai would appear on Sky?

I think DW is more of a BBC World equivalent - I'm not sure it has a strictly domestic role - though it may be broadcast on Berlin's DTT system?

Is this the part of the show that asks German kids to send in pictures?

I wonder what the channel's opinion of Michael Schumacher is....

Deutsche Welle TV is now available on the Sky Digital EPG, at channel 834 . . .

That is all.

I can't understand why it is hidden away with all the foreign channels! Surely it deserves a place amongst the news channels, seeing as about half of the programming is in English.

It is a very fab channel though, I really do love it.

I agree. Fox News is more foreign than DWTV, and that's in the news section. (Surprise surprise)

Yep, if CCTV-9 can be in the news section, DW-TV should be as well.

I guess some would say it's to do with Murdoch's dealings with the Chinese government, and I'd expect Sky's reply to be that CCTV-9 would subtitle anything not in English, while DW-TV broadcast many hours in only German (and also Spanish, from what I remember)
