DW-TV is Deutsche Welle - a German international channel that covers news and things. A *kind* of BBC WORLD but, well, German. It's very good actually. And TVE as I'm sure you know is a Spanish international channel.
How come these channels are being tested with each other?
The last grab is from a programme called Euromaxx, the presenter is brilliant. He is English and has bad teeth - talk about a stereotype. The channel in general is pretty good, especially the cultural channels, but for news it's a bit lacking. Nice presentation though.
I really forgot how good DW-TV was. I miss it a fair bit...although the channel is nothing now without Alastair Yates. All I see on there is Brian Thomas whenever I tune in (proven by those captures)
Ali really got into it, and he knew all of his german pronounciations as well.
That aside, the channel is an excellent one. As many have said, it's kind of like Germany's tri-language answer to BBC World. You can catch some good stuff on there...and it was really interesting watching their coverage of the Iraq War (considering where they were broadcasting from!)
They've tarted it up a fair bit in recent months, but I always preffered the old music and the old up to the hour filler, which was genius really. Depending on what colour it was, showed you which language the hour was, and always ended with some scrolling style text of the language. They've gone for a cleaner look with their current look, which is nice but they spoilt the Journal music a bit. Glad they kept it though, instead of going for a brand new theme.
But I do miss...
"Hello, and a VERY warm welcome to you, this is The Journal on DW-TV...I'm Alastair Yates reporting from Berlin"
