Pretty sure that turned up on Trouble. The channel was full of those mid-90s videotaped teen US sitcoms.

I think Trouble showed SBTB: The New Class as well didn't it? Around the same time Nickelodeon were showing the original series.

I think Trouble showed the original at some point at well, but yes they definitely showed the new class.

I know the original showed up on The Vault after they started showing more programmes than music as well. Can't remember if they showed the College Years or New Class though. I have vague memories of at least the TV Movie that ended The College Years turning up on The Bigger Breakfast too, IIRC split over several days rather than shown in one go.

Yeah I remember the wedding being shown on Big Breakfast in the summer.

Such sad news. Of course with the first 'The New Class' they basically tried to recast the original set of characters with younger actors under different names. Weasel was clearly Screech's replacement as he was pretty much cast as the school clown and even looked similar.

Worth nothing there was also 'The College Years' with most of the original cast too.

I remember watching the original run on Nickelodeon back in around 1996/1997.

They've recently revived the show with new titles and a rather poor new version of the original theme tune. Two of the original cast are in it too (Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkely). No word when we can expect to see it on our screens over here though.

The sad thing is that Dustin Diamond is the only main student cast member from the original series not involved in the new incarnation (unless you count Leanna Creel as Tori!) Even a small role for Lark Voorhies was previously announced.

That really is a terrible new version of the theme tune though!

New theme aside, the new version has actually been pretty well received. I watched a few episodes and enjoyed it myself. I'm not sure being a 35 year old man, i'm the target audience for it, but i liked it nonetheless.

I swear Mario Lopez has a picture in the attic as he's not aged a day!

That new theme tune is abysmal. Could they have created a worse remix?

Before I saw the link I assumed you were discussing the version of the theme tune that was used sporadically in the original series with a different singer and slight differences in the music. But that new theme tune made me feel quite ill.

Yes, they did a bit of an EastEnders and updated the theme and there was a bit of an uproar so they switched back to the original rockier version.

The 2020 theme has part of the lyrics missing, the line about 'seeing the bus fly by'. Why? Also don't understand why they couldn't just use the original theme, its timeless!

It’s quite amazing that the original intro was a minute long, almost like the a closing credits version used as an intro.
