I had left by DTT box on overnight, and had been left on News 24 (a lapse of judgement I know...) but when I woke up this morning the box had frozen on a picture of Bill and Sian.

Interesting point there.

I've been getting this overnight freezing on a regular basis on my old Pace box for some while, but ONLY if it's left on BBC News 24.

It appears that it's perfectly okay if left on ANY other channel.

Are these symptoms familiar to anybody else, and, if so, does anyone know a remedy?

Mines an old OnDigital Philips box - don't know if that helps the situation though.

Maybe it's a firmware issue with the old On boxes?

I suspect it IS something to do with the old On boxes.

I'm sure if all the new ones were doing it, lots of people would be complaining and would have commented here by now.

The only other bit of evidence is that we THINK it only freezes at a few seconds past the hour, but we don't know WHICH hour, as the tower's never on screen when it happens.

Many thanks for that; some interesting stuff in that thread, but not sure it helps.

It reads as if the problem's only on BBC One, where I definitely don't get it.

I only get it on News 24, but the fact that they talk about it being at 8 or 9 in the morning seems logical, as that's the right sort of freeze frames to tie in with what I'm getting, especially the lack of tower at almost exactly the hour.

I'll try leaving the subtitles switched on, which will have little effect on News 24, and see what happens for a few days.

As you appear to be completely incapable of being any help with the subject of this thread, why don't you simply go forth and multiply?

Thank you Mr 83; at least you appear to have a braincell, unlike your ignorant namesake!

I had no problems this morning, having left the subtitles on. I'll let you know progress, as and when progress is made.

On Sunday night into Monday morning and on Monday night into Tuesday morning we left it on channel 40, BBC News 24, with subtitles switched on and had no problems.

It, therefore, looks promising, but a bit early to be certain I think.
