I'm seeing the fact that Asa got a temporary system up with everyone's user accounts and signatures intact as an encouraging sign that he has a recent back up available.

Tell me about it! After daily visits for 15 years I didn't know what to do with myself - literally! I kept clicking on the TV Forum button on my toolbar - even though I knew the site was down. I guess it's just habit / auto-pilot! Thank god it's at least partially back!
