Couldn't you have made it a bit bigger, so as to divert my attention from Peter and Jordan?

That's Ok, even ITV1 is too classy for them so those pairs of tits would be more at home on five.

PS: I did notice watching the title sequence to "The Tudors" last night on BBC TWO that they completely ignored 4:3 conventions and had everything for 16:9. About time too. Even if people don't have a widescreen TV 85% are capable of switching to letterbox.

Well, it's from US TV so no surprise - but I agree, it's about time to drop the 4:3 safe zone. However, News 24 showed us it's easier said than done!

I haven't voted in this thread as it's stupidly worded.

No, they're not neccesary in my opinion. But do they annoy me at all? No.

Well E4 have been doing it for years with their DOG, it's about time everyone forgot about the luddites with "4:3-only" TVs.

ABC, CBS, The CW, FOX don't show letterbox on SD, so the only way to watch widescreen is HD.

Yes but in the UK you choose the screen format from your STB!

Showtime and HBO usually letterbox on their SD feed, depends on the programme if it's 4:3 safe or not. (I was trying to point out that not all networks there like the idea of letterboxing)

Incidentally, C4 now letterbox their 4:3 feed when the programme's in 16:9.
