DOGs and Other On-Screen Clutter

Five now have a new DOG in the top left of the screen.

It has been DOG free for a few years but now its back

Its not as bad as the Five US and Five Live ones though.

Why are people moaning? It's barely visible.

We obviously have better eyesight than you do.

Listen love, I have 20/20 vision..

And to think that I had hopes five might someday be watchable.

It should be a bit smaller and in the bottom right.

I think you're slightly stupid to not watch a channel just 'cus there's a DOG on it.

Like Simon has boycotted ITV1(?) despite not having a BARB box.

I noticed this during The Wright Stuff this morning. Took me a while to spot it, though, so it obviously isn't too obtrusive. I do wonder why it is necessary, though. Analogue terrestrial channels don't need them, as the transmitter identifies which channel it is, which in turn displays on the TV when you switch on the channel. One could argue that they aren't even needed for digital terrestrial/satellite/cable as all of these platforms have banners which identify which channel it is, in a similar way to analogue.

I've said it once, I'll say it again. Why can't the DOGs be as unobtrusive as ABC's in America?

It doesn't bother me, its not too big, its not coloured. Its just there. I don't mind it at all.

ABC no longer use that DOG, they recently rebranded and changed their DOGs to match the look.
