Surely that's the perfect DOG? Something that's there, you know its there but doesn't get in the way. In fact Country Music Television, before it disappeared about ten years ago now, took the same approach and stuck their (admittedly huge) totally black DOG bottom right and it worked well.

I'm not that bothered by them to be honest (although the bugs on the music channels are usually excessive).

The award for the best example of how a bug should be done should go to the ABC1 bug. Small and unobtrusive in the bottom right of the screen occasionally flipping over to give info about subtitles, audio description and the next programme.
