He's certainly someone who's improved with age and has rather seamlessly made the switch from light entertainment to more serious stuff.

By getting sacked by Blue Peter for taking hard core drugs! Laughing

I have to agree, his show on 5Live is a great listen, as for his BBC Three shows, they're still trash TV.

That's what all Blue Peter presenters should do then, then they'll have a better career once they leave Wink

I think he's one of those boradcasters who is better suited to radio; to me he seems to across as awkward/uncomfortable on television somehow, confer the time he presented The Wright Stuff recently (then again he Rustie Lee to contend with!)

I like his awkward/uncomfortable style. He comes across like a supply teacher.

I certainly thought he was excellent on The Wright Stuff - he came across as being very level-headed. Certainly a lot better than when Lowri Turner did it for a week or so.

Didn't he once present Newsnight, albeit in a round-about way, as it was a simulcast of his radio show? Or am I making things up?

He did, can't remember what the topic was now. The rest of his show (or most of it at least) was then carried on the red button.
