What did Yorkshire take?

Ah, the good old days of regional programming! I think Border and STV, amongst others, used to show the Tyne Tees programme, while Anglia and Yorkshire had Farming Diary. I assume the south and westcountry had their own farming related programmes too.

The three stations you mention are the only ones who took TT farming programme.

Grampian certainly took it in the 1970s (there's a black-and-white intro on YouTube with Kennedy Thomson), and I recall Ulster taking it in the 1980s.

My recollection also is that Tyne Tees themselves took Farming Diary intermittently in the late 1970s.

I believe that clip is no longer on youtube.

Talking of farming I was saddened to learn recently that Ted Moult has passed away.

One of my cherished souvenirs from my 12 years working for STV is a Farming Outlook sweatshirt which to this day I wear constantly when doing stuff on the croft. It seems appropriate, y'know? And it has a funky TTT logo, too!!
Neil Miles, VMPhil and Si-Co gave kudos

Google Books reveals a Tyne Tees job ad for a Farming Outlook researcher in New Scientist (31.8.1978) stating the show was seen in the Tyne Tees, YTV, Border, STV and Grampian regions.

Nearly thirty years ago - he killed himself...

A quick scan of the Guardian/Observer archive suggests YTV took Farming Diary from April 1970 until the end of the year, then switched allegiance to Farming Outlook at the start of 1971 - coinciding, perhaps, with the start of Trident Television? In August 1974, they switched back to Diary, presumably to keep Belmont viewers happy when the transmitter was re-allocated to YTV from Anglia by the IBA. Which all makes the claim in my previous post that Farming Outlook was seen on YTV in 78 a strange one. I dimly recall, in a previous listings trawl, seeing both programmes appear in the same Sunday schedule on Yorkshire, but I can't find evidence now!

Indeed, here's an article about the unfortunate event.

i think poor Ted had been told he had cancer....which- even more tragically- wasn't the case.

which- even more tragically- wasn't the case.

Why say it as fact then?

Tyne Tees took Diary for a while in the late 1970s, I'm sure of it (it was an Anglia programme wasn't it?). So it's entirely reasonable that both stations might have broadcast both programmes for a time.
