Corrie: Sunday, monday wed, Friday and have 4 per week instead of the 6?
emmerdale: I say cut it back to 4 a week as well. what about making it hourly on Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm?
even back in the good old days
high road
crossroad
emmerdale farm
Corrie
and back then it still never made up 12 episodes a week

Soaps don't need axing, they just need less episodes... besides, Emmerdale is probably the best soap ITV have now.
Although the incident with Ken on Corrie the other night was fairly amusing...

Bottom line is they are ITV's most profitable, consistently highest rated programmes.
They won't cut them back no matter how much you want them to.
End of.

Could emmerdale work with one hour format? Tues / thur? at 7pm
with corrie at sun, mon, wed, fri, this Free up the 7pm slot on those day
give us more freedom, like good old classic game show and would also free up the 8.30pm slot for other show may a HARD hiting doc?

I think Jo&Co's question related more to the audience perception of quality and whether, from a hypothetical viewpoint, the quantity was having a negative effect.
Of course, in reality, ITV won't change anything while it's still profitable. Although I accept that we've discussed this many times.

You've actually got three questions there, haven't you Joan?
There's the question in the thread title, the one in the page heading and the one in the initial post.
Exactly which one do you want us to vote on?

No problem at all with the level of soap on ITV1, though I would move the Friday 8.30pm Corrie back to Sundays, and ditch half an hour of Emmerdale too.
It'll be interesting to see what they do with The Bill too when football returns to Wednesdays - it wouldn't do it any harm really to lose the 15-20 episodes a year where there is a clash, and with budgets being what they are now I wouldn't be surprised if ITV don't take the opportunity.
Personally I have much more of an issue with what's on BBC1. EastEnders is off my radar now so I don't really care about that - should have been axed 5 years ago IMO. It's more how Casualty and Holby City are milked for all their worth which frustrates me - I just hope now Holby Blue has been axed they don't go looking for yet another spin off to fill the slot.
