I live in the Whitehaven area and haven't seen any digital switchover messages yet on screen but we're bombarded with massive billboard messages around the town including a specially constructed temporary one, blocking out sunlight and any chance of a view of the harbour.
We can't say we didn't know it was happening!

If you do see any messages on your TV please cap it, if it's even with your camera or camera phone, so we can get an idea.

What's happening with Witehaven? Is this the first analogue TX to go or something?

Yep, Whitehaven goes digital only this autumn.

The Whitehaven relay (and a subsidiary relay at, I think, Bleachgreen, which is fed from Whitehaven) will go digital only this autumn, the first in the UK. The Ferryside relay transmitter in Wales still broadcasts BBC 2 analogue. All other channels, including BBC2W, are digital only. The first main transmitter in the UK to go digital only will be Selkirk (along with its relays at Bonchester Bridge, Clovenfords, Eyemouth, Galashiels, Hawick, Innerleithen, Jedburgh, Lauder, Peebles, Stow and Yetholm). That's scheduled for autumn 2008. Some pieces of useless information. The transmitter mast at Selkirk is "second hand" and was the original one used at Black Hill when STV opened in 1957. When Selkirk opened, as a relay of Caldbeck in December 1961, it was the first unmanned transmitter in the ITV network, and the first to use channel 13.

As one of the (admittedly not very many) dedicated viewers of 2W, I hope they find some way of preserving the English language programmes for Wales.
The same will apply in Northern Ireland where, though not given a specifically separate name, the BBC2 analogue and digital services also have different programmes.
There's almost an argument for an extra channel in Wales (and probably Scotland and Northern Ireland) to show English language programmes specifically for the nation.
