Dodgy earpieces

I wonder if anybody has noticed that several itn/itv news presenters seem to wear really dodgy earpieces.

i've spotted both katie derham and jon snow wearing a cheapy thing which seems to be made from metal - hardly discreet at all.

I also notice to move to the wireless inside the ear canal type is happening at a very slow pace in news and non entertainment programmes, is there a reason for this?
