Anyone know if there is going to be an christmas special this year? that was a 1 off right no budget or time to do it every year right?

Both series 2 and 3 were commissioned to include a Christmas special, so yes, there will be one later this year.

And the bit just before - quite cutting:

Dr: Union flag?
Rose: Mom went out with a sailor.
Dr: Oh-hooh, I bet she did!

Notice that the street party was held in 'Florizel Street'!

In fact there were quite a few references to "Coronation Street" in last nights episode. The most obvious being "Florizel Street" - being the working title before choosing the name we have today!!!!! Or was it all just word play as it was supposed to the the Coronation!!!! Laughing Laughing

Not that the lead writer, i.e. Rusell T Davies, more than likely requested Mark Gatiss to put some references in, as Russell is a real BIG Coronation Street fan anyway!

Didn't RTD write for Coro in the mid 90s? I'm sure he did... could just be my memory playing tricks on me. Dumb question time: How do you know if the Union Flag is upside down or not?

Another thing: Where the Doctor get that Betamax video tape from? He built the video recorder using parts out of Mr Magpie's shop-- but what about the cassette itself? Or did it come from the Tardis along with the scooter?! Laughing

The Union Flag - how do you know if its upside down - to do with one of the white stripes being slighly wider than the others (not quite sure which one) - plus it helps with a proper Union Flag due to the holes for the ropes/string Laughing Laughing Laughing

It's hard to tell, because the flag's almost symmetrical, but... http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/geography/unionjack7.html

In Magpie's shop he said he needed one more thing, and the next shot of him was him rushing out of the TARDIS to rejoin the kid - I assume he got a VCR from the TARDIS as well, unless he built the whole loading mechanism from the parts in the shop. And as mentioned in Confidential, on the side of the tape are Gallifreyan notes of what's on the tape, each one scribbled out and replaced Very Happy

One wonders how long Bille will stay in it for? David will hang on for a fair few series I think.

I think Billie may leave next series. It was a bit of a shocker Noel Clarke going like he did.

I think he was on the writing team but didn't pen an entire episode, apart from the Viva Las Vegas video special.

Of course there's one glaring error - the Bats Wings ident shown on the television sets didn't come into existence until December 1953, six months after the Queen's coronation. But as it's a Mark Gatiss episode, I'll forgive that. Very Happy

Anyone else notice that it was set in Florizel Street, which was the original working title of Coronation Street?

Edit: someone got there long before me

Damn good episode tonight - just seen it (all thanks to Sky+)

Proper Dr Who and the direction was back on track after past few weeks when it has been, putting this mildly, damn boring and very samey!!!!

At last they have gone off-world and to a planet that does NOT look like earth (its only taken almost 2 series') and no mention of Torchwood for the 2nd week on the trott!!!!

BTW if Torchwood fails, will Dr Who become like it was during Pertwee's UNIT era - base itself on earth and become a member of Torchwood?
