Yes, he was, actually. He's a good actor who's had a pretty successful career.

If you're trying to imply that he was single-handedly responsible for the decline of Doctor Who in the mid-80s and the 18-month hiatus then you're off-target.

The BBC also cut the budget of the series and part of the reason for the 18 month hiatus was to get more money into Eastenders ( not because of US imports which where declining at that point in time. BBC was told off because of that) I think the other reason was the BBC just wanted to give the series a proper rest because it just wasn;t going to be able to spend the proper money on the show while the BBC was investing in other projects.

Indeed, the launch of BBC Daytime and EastEnders were a massive cost. EastEnders involved a whole new studio complex as well.

Thank you for seemingly implying something negative about the man who will always be "my" Doctor, presumably because you don't happen to think much of Colin and/or Sixie.

If I knew who "your" Doctor is/was, I'd be of a mind to return your "compliment".

These things are inherently subjective.

I happen to prefer Ed Tudor-Pole's Crystal Maze episodes over those of Richard O'Brien, which I'm sure puts me in quite a minority. I prefer Hattie Hayridge over Norman Lovett, as Holly in Red Dwarf. My James Bond of choice is Roger Moore. Different strokes, and all that...

But how would anyone know? was my point. Maybe he wasmaybe he wasn't (I doubt he was). When, eventually, anyone other than a white male is cast the crybaby fanboys will blast it as a box ticking gimmick regardless. Because that's just what they do.

Maybe we should just give the role of the queen to Samuel L jackson .. and maybe we should give the role of Nelson mandala to Miranda Hart

Yeah, right? where will it end!!? It's like gay marriage. If a man can now marry a man what not a man and a frog? It's political correctness gone mad. Why can't everything just stay the same forever and everyone stay in their assigned boxes?

That would be far less controversial than recasting the Ghostbusters as female.

I have no idea what your point was, because you didn't actually make one, you just made what appeared to be a snide comment about Colin Baker's acting ability.

And I'm still not sure what you point is. How would anyone know what? That he was the "best actor for the job"? That's what auditions are for.

Im no doctor who fan, I do know how Colin got the job, He was cast in the series before and played an evil person. His skills got him notice by the producer and director, ( Colin managed to fill the screen with his acting) He was then invited to someone wedding where again he impressed alot of people. That is how he got the job.

The whole point, was Colin wanted to play the doctor a lot darker, and also to highlight how regenerating isn;t all sunshine and rose. I Believe he wanted to stay in the roll for a good number of years to help devople the six doctor.

Colin did say he wanted to have a go at breaking Tom's record.
