"Product placement" as a phrase would suggest that money had swapped hands and it was there on purpose. Obviously it's just there as a standard prop that wasn't twisted round to avoid showing the brand. Two totally different things...

Please re-read my message as I did write 'seemed like' and did not state it 'was' product placement, and the 'Bad BBC' was a comment on that it could be misconstrued.

In the grand scheme of things it's only a minor observation - though as the BBC has to be careful about such things, I would be interested to read what their guidelines are for the use of branded products in their productions and whether the positioning of the bottle fits in with them.

We should normally ensure that branding is not clearly visible, and close ups are avoided when real products are used as set dressing.

Interestingly they used their original slide for advert breaks with the UK Gold logo from the 1997-2001 era. Abit sloppy not to change them, unless they are having a "retro" day Very Happy Very Happy

Yeah, I saw that too. Apparently, sometimes you even see the really old 'End of part one' graphics from when the channel launched in 1992!
They're burnt in to the programme tapes, and should be cut out by the automation. But, well, that would rely on the automation working properly...

I think I'm going to like david tennants dr as he seems to have a good sense of whit about him, like his complaint at never being ginger, for once a positive comment about gingers on tv, now I'm thinking of ginger actors who'd make a good dr who.

I thought that was a reference to a certain Chris Evans myself, but maybe that's just my evil mind. Twisted Evil

A very good Doctor Who - perfect Christmas Day telly, credible, yet something you could watch with your family. Just serious enough to work as a drama, yet entertaining too - something I'm going to guess wasn't quite mastered by Eastenders.

The creators of Doctor Who have got it down to a fine art. It's never going to be a special effects-led, big budget, sci-fi extravaganza, so instead it doesn't take itself too seriously, is funny at times, and plays to the nostalgia without giving in completely to it (something not mastered by previous remakes). At the same time has genuine drama in there and you really connect with the characters.

At the same time, each episode acts like one long promotion for the next - the last 10 minutes last night seemed like it was just building you up for the next show, and there was an audible groan when the continuity announcer said we'd have to wait until spring.

Cleverly marketed, cleverly produced, cleverly written - a genuine and deserved success.

Did anyone else spot Tom Bakers scarf in the costume room.
If you look behind the doctor when he is looking the mirror, you can clearly see the scarf & costume in the background.

Nice touch

David Tennant was wearing one version of Tom's scarf and another one was hanging nearby. Bear in mind, that there were several versions of the 'costume', so there could very well be several scarves left.

I liked the fact that DT picked up a Casanova-style costume.

According to the commentary to the episode (available on the BBC's Doctor Who site), the set dressers made sure there was a copy of each of the previous Doctor's outfits in there. Haven't freeze-framed to check yet.
