As far as i know they are staying the same. Although it has been confirmed that the famous "Middle Eight" part of the theme tune will be making a return for the christmas special.

Hurrah - I love the camp middle 8 in the Peter Howell 1980s version. Whilst I like the current theme - and prefer it to those that replaced the Peter Howell version - without the middle 8 something dramatic is missing. (Though I guess credit sequences are shorter these days...)

So could the titles actually be longer with that bit coming back?

I was under the impression it was intended for the credits.

The credits for the last series consisted of the theme with orchestral woo-ee-oos for the "coming up" then the main theme for the credits. The two different bits being for the end of The Empty Child where they swapped the trailer round after complaints about the last cliffhanger and the final episode where it just went *clunck* at the end.

If by titles you mean the opening titles, then no, as I suspect the middle 8 will be used for the closing music (as it was in the Peter Howell era I believe) However I don't know if the return of the middle 8 will make them any longer, as the current closing music is not just a shorter version of the original I don't think, instead it is a different arrangement - and there is the "next time" trail segued into it.

Great! And that nonsense about it sounding too much like "Do They Know It's Christmas", it may have had a slight similarity in parts but that was no reason for it to be scrapped, I like it just as much as the rest of the piece, and it makes a welcome return.

Your suspicions are right - the opening titles are much the same (although, obviusly, have David Tennant's name flying through them), and the 'middle eight' has made a return in the closing titles. They didn't seem to be any longer than the last series.

I watched Dr Who: The Movie on UKTV Gold this morning. It reminded me of how US involvement can really spoil a good format, compared to the 2005 series.

Interestingly they used their original slide for advert breaks with the UK Gold logo from the 1997-2001 era. Abit sloppy not to change them, unless they are having a "retro" day Very Happy Very Happy

With the exception of the American-ised Master who was your typical cheesy rubbish American Sci-fi enemy, i really liked the American version. In fact i would happily say i'd scrap the current 2005 series and have a series with Paul McGann, because i think the stories could be much better.

Grrrrr... Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad not sure whether that deserves a considered answer, but here goes:

Arrow The movie obviously had a far higher budget than the series produced by BBC WALES
Arrow The storyline was $hit, when you think back on it
Arrow It owed very little to the essence of the programme in terms of keeping with the past.
Arrow I'm looking forward to tonight's episode, so I am heavily biased Rolling Eyes Cheers

hehehehe Very Happy

Courtesy of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, judging by the credits. Shame we didn't get to hear it properly because of the voiceover - itself made unnecessary by the promotion that immediately followed the broadcast.
