Does anyone know anything about the new opening titles to Doctor Who?They MIGHT alter the Christopher Eccelston one,but there's a 50/50 chance it'll be completely new.

I'd like something involving recent episodes.

They showed a short clip on Breakfast yesterday and they look the same to me. Just a change of name.

Did you not watch the CiN special? They'll use the same ones as before but with the new name.

Having only two outcomes doesn't make them equally likely... it's far more likely they'll keep the same titles, especially as there's a week until the Xmas special and a few months until the new series, and we've heard nothing about new titles.

A title montage would look far too cheesy and American to me.

Historically the Dr Who titles have remained very similar between series, as the music and titles are quite big parts of the show.

I'd expect the titles to remain very much the same, albeit with David Tennant's name appearing.

The current set of titles quite neatly nod back to the original series in its "time tunnel" era - and work well - and probably cost a reasonable amount to create, so to replace them after just one series would be a bit of a waste.

As far as i know they are staying the same. Although it has been confirmed that the famous "Middle Eight" part of the theme tune will be making a return for the christmas special.

Oh good - the "Middle Eight" bit was always my favourite bit of the tune and it seemed a shame it had been forgotten in the new version.

Was the middle eight always part of the theme? I thought I'd read somewhere that it was only brought in in the 80s, but when I think about it I can hear it in my head in the 60s style...

The people who made the TV Movie loved the middle eight so much they put it at the beginning - that was weird.

It was always present in the original theme and was heard through the 60's, sometimes in the early 70's, but rarely heard in the late 70's. Camped up and spangly it became a regular fixture in the 80's.
For the record it does NOT sound like Band Aid, if anything Band Aid sounds like it!

Very nice to hear. The worst mistake ever made imo was the decision to axe it in the mid-70's when they gave up on the 1'12" credit sequence, the same part of the theme tune looping around 3 times always sounded dull and ridiculous compared to what had been used for 10 years previously. One of the only credits that the 80's Peter Howell remix had going for it was the re-instatement of the 'middle bit'.

What exactly is the Middle Eight? I have an idea which part it is, but I can't really express it in words!

As far as I'm aware the "middle eight" refers to this: Click Here which goes after the well known "oooaaa woooo" If that makes sence?
