Warning: rampant speculation ahead!

Paul McGann was recently at a convention in New Zealand where he revealed the Eight Doctor's new costume and sonic screwdriver prop (see http://oi51.tinypic.com/r2q1ol.jpg), obstensibly to promote the Big Finish audios, but when asked why they were bothering, he allegedly said it was because he'd "be needing it."

Then there's Stephen Moffat's recent tweet to Neil Gaiman regarding the episode he'd written:

Quote:
And look who it is! LOOK WHO IT IS!!!

which suggests we're in for either a big guest star (could it be... Biggins?!) or a face from the past...

true, did he want to reprise the role when they relaunched it in 2005.

IIRC on one of the commentaries for a classic Who DVD he said he wanted to play the Master Laughing (that was even before it had been announced that The Master would be returning in Series 3)

I didn't think tonight's episode was particularly good. Featured the women with one eye and one metal eyepatch, appearing through a 'slot' in the wall. I think we might all get tired of Rory being 'killed' soon. He ceased to exist last series, before returning as an Auton. He was then supposedly shot last episode, when he really wasn't, and he drowned today, before just surviving.

And what happened to the Pirate that Toby cut with the sword? He just disappeared from the ship without explanation.

Didn't he become dust as well last series? Don't forget, he drowned and survived, then seemingly failed to be resuscitated in the Tardis before surviving again. I'd count that as twice.

I stand corrected. Wasn't the dust thing when he fell through the crack and disappeared?

Oh, is that another? I was thinking of the 'Amy's Choice' episode, set in Leadworth.

Oh, you're right! I'd completley forgotten about that happening. The 'falling through the crack' thing was in a different episode.

That means, Rory has died in the following way's:

1) He turned to dust
2) He fell through a crack and ceased to exist. Ever.
3) He got 'shot' by secret agent types
4) He drowned and died, before being revived by a machine.
5) He died whilst being resuscitated, after being disconnected from the machine, where his drowning problem returned.

A rant from Steven Moffat (Mr Who) today about interweb spoilers Confused
BBC posted:
"You can imagine how much I hate them," he told BBC Radio 5 live. "It's only fans who do this, or they call themselves fans.

"I wish they could go and be fans of something else."

Before the current series began, a fan posted the entire plot of the first two episodes on an internet forum.

They were among a number of fans who were invited to a press screening, at which the production team asked people not to give away spoilers.

"It's heartbreaking in a way because you're trying to tell stories, and stories depend on surprise," said Moffat.

"So to have some twit who came to a press launch, write up a story in the worst, most ham-fisted English you can imagine, and put it on the internet.

"I just hope that guy never watched my show again, because that's a horrific thing to do."

He said the majority of Doctor Who fans were "spoiler-phobes" who refused to go online for fear of finding out any information in advance.

"They want to preserve the surprise," he said. "The tragedy is you have to work hard at that now."

Moffat said he believed that keeping elements of storylines under wraps was an essential element in drama.

"Stories depend on shocking people," he said.

"Stories are the moments that you didn't see coming, that are what live in you and burn in you forever.

"If you are denied those, it's vandalism."
