On a slight tangent I'm disappointed that the new Who site doesn't have a track listings for Confidential anymore... if anyone can fathom out what they've been for the first 3 weeks so far I'd be grateful.
dont care what anyone says but Gatiss was remarkable at making the Daleks look and sound like the Spike Milligan Dalek sketch in his shows from late 70's/early 80's
Quite honestly laughed at that!!!!
Apart from that why do I think we are not in the normal reality - maybe even N-Space???
Perhaps Tennant was just too good that whoever or whatever comes directly after him will be unfairly compared?
I wouldn't say it's so much the fault of Matt Smith - though I'm not liking him as much now as I did in the first episode (and there's certainly nothing wrong with Karen Gillan) - to my mind it's to do with the poor writing. The second and third episodes have just made me feel why am I even bothering to sit through it? I just hope this coming two-parter gets the series back on track.

I don't think they're in E-Space (N-Space is apparently our universe according to 4th at the beginning of Keeper Of Traken & I assume it was E-Space you meant?) but there's definitely an alternative universe vibe going on with this series, especially seeing as Amy hasn't a clue as to what a Dalek is, especially seeing as they invaded Earth in Journey's End.

Fair play, I forget that it's GB where one or two people are calling for Tennant/RTD to return. For me I don't see the series as been any worse than the last five years, I'd certainly watch this series so far over Seasons 15, 17, 20 & 24. However I have noticed there is a bit of a difference with TBB & Victory, but I can't quite put my finger on it, I'm sure it'll sort itself out over the season anyway.
The episodes have got progressively worse, true - but I found 1 and 2 very good and just this one which frustrated me. I was really looking forward to it - WW2 is an area I find interesting, and having visited the Cabinet War Rooms, read various books and seen various TV programmes on it, the topic of last night's episode feels a bit more 'alive' than other aspects of history. Perhaps that's why I felt let down this afternoon (when I watched it). Or maybe I'm just frustrated by the Daleks. They're so familiar now that they're just not very exciting - plus the lack of an interesting angle (jumping through time and so on as in episode 1) or an clever resolve to the story. It just felt like a standard Daleks arrive, oh dear, Doctor confronts them, somehow they go episode. Also, at points the story was hard to follow, particularly at the start. Maybe it's just me but I actually had to rewind to hear the dialogue again - perhaps the sound mix. Anyway, sorry for rambling on. A bit tired so this may not make much sense - or indeed be very interesting.

Oh, so it wasn't just my ears. The 5.1 mix on BBC HD later was a lot easier to make sense of, especially when the Daleks were speaking.
We are only three episodes in, and I don't think the three we've had are any worse than any previous set of three openers - I think it's just an unfortunate coincidence* that they've been in descending order of quality. In series 2, New Earth was awful, Tooth and Claw was great, and School Reunion was pretty good. This year we've had Great, Pretty Good, and Bad instead.
*I reserve the right to change my mind next week, but hope I won't have to.
The sound mix has been a common complaint from anyone who watches it on BBC One. But like me, people who watch it on BBC HD say the sound is perfect. I think maybe becuase it's mixed in 5.1 and the dialogue is set to go down the single centre speaker, yet the music is set to go down the left and right speakers. Down the surround speakers too. So when mixed down to Stereo the music drowns out the dialogue. Just a guess.
Some exciting news from what's left of the RTD era, the spin off the Sarah Jane Adventures will feature the Doctor once again only this time with it's new incarnation Matt Smith, the story written by Russell T Davies will also feature the return of Sarah Jane's predecessor Jo Grant as being reprised by Katy Manning.
