Quite possibly.

Again, I was quite disappointed by this episode. The dogfight just seemed so reminiscent of the Carling Dambusters advert, and making the android believe it was human just felt like lazy writing.

Hmm anyone else think Amy is not what she seems?

I do... now...

Nah, not really Wink I was disappointed with tonight's episode too. It didn't feel very well integrated, as if there was a different writer for each subplot, which were then jammed together in editing. I'm not sure why they bothered spending a whole 30 seconds on that woman who lost her husband, for example - "Why's she crying?/Lost her husband/Oh dear. Moving on..."

I didn't much like the incidental music, either - it seemed entirely heroic for the pilots during the dogfight, leaving me with no sense that the Daleks were presenting any kind of menace. The new Dalek design is interesting,at least, and not in a terrible way.

It also left me wishing they'd make a permanent move to one hour episodes, because this felt like one that had been cut down to fit a timeslot. It's about on a par for me with Mark Gatiss's last episode (season 2's Idiot's Lantern), which is a shame because his first one, The Unquiet Dead, was fantastic.

That crack is already puzzling me. If we look, it was present in Episode 1, in Amelia's wall, at the end of Episode 2, and again at the end of Episode Three.

Another good episode, but I did expect the whole thing about Amy not remembering the Dalek's to be solved by the end. And I'm now half expecting her to a Robot like the Dalek's toy was.

Also, as the BBC's Doctor Who site says, therefore not a spoiler, River Song is back next week. From the trailer I didn't twig it was her.

Also, I thought there was something more with how that Women's lover or whoever died, I expected it to expand, whereas it didn't.

I'm no expert on this, but 'porcelin skin' & bright red nail polish.

Seems a little too perfect for a 'human being' IMHO! (I know she's like Nicola from 'Slappers, sorry Girls Aloud')

(Just remembered that gag from Lucy Porter on 'Mock The Week', 'That's not a 5 headed dog Harry Potter, that's Girls Aloud!)

Don't remember any other female companion like that?

A few things from the subsequent HD/5.1 viewing:

- There was morse code in background sounds when the Doctor is looking over the "Ironside" blueprints - anyone fancy having a crack at it? Wouldn't be the first hidden message in Doctor Who history...
- I wish they'd come up with something better than extra-long sleeves when someone loses a hand on screen...
- When Amy and Churchill went to solicite Bracewell's help, she told him "I understand. I really do." Hmmm... (she's also impossibly tall and therefore must be a fembot).
- Stopping Bracewell exploding just by talking to him did seem a bit Captain Kirk-ish...
- The soldiers raising the flag on the roof at the end seemed a bit random, especially as it reflects a famous photo of American soldiers. Would have had some significance if the Daleks had blown it up earlier, or something like that.

And not to do with tonight's episode, but did anyone die an unnatural death (onscreen) in the previous two episodes, or is Moffat still managing to avoid that? Can't remember if Prisoner Zero was killed or just transported.

Rather just enjoyed the episode - am glad that the Daleks went away to return at a later date rather than resolving the whole story in 45 minutes. Although the episode might not have been the greatest I think this was one of Matt Smith's best performances yet. On the roof when he's looking at the dalek - his look of horror is absolutely believable and shows his great skill as an actor.

In regards to Amy, it does seem as though there's an underlying story - perhaps to do with the original crack in the wall? Either there's more to her than meets the eye because she can't remember the daleks, or that's a bigger story whereby people were made to forget, perhaps?

Am enjoying this series much more than I expected. River Song's return next week will be interesting - I hear it's a two parter so I wonder if River will remain an enigmatic character in the Doctor's life or whether we will discover a little more about her? I did wonder if the line in the last series "You turned up with a new haircut and suit" could have referred to a regeneration hinting she may know more than just David Tennant's Doctor. I don't know, could be rubbish.

I was definitely disappointed with the episode, as it felt like they were more desperately concerned with hemming in the new daleks than in actually working on the storyline. That bit felt tacked on afterwards, with a bunch of different bits and pieces thrown in to try and cobble together an episode.

Indeed this whole series so far has felt like a bit more of an exercise of the new guys going 'we want to make our mark, and change every thing for the sakes of changing it' than anything else. Its great to have some new things, but don't focus on them and sacrifice actual decent storytelling in the process... Laughing

Well, after last week's fantastic episode, I thought tonight's story was crap. Can't say anymore.

My thoughts exactly.

Reiterated as my sentiments remain the same. The story's seem far weaker than ever, the Doctor (the main character) hasn't really done anything/saved the day on his own as he should. And the changes to.. well.. everything aren't done with any point other than because that can*

*Increased merchandising and the ability to sell everything again, TARDIS, Daleks etc etc

Quite simply.. Booooo

The thing I took from tonight [or yesterday even] was it is seeming more and more to be an alternate universe. Tonight we had the lack of Dalek intelligence from Amy, and in episode one we had Rory's work badge state it was 1990, and yet people were fully aware of twitter and had fancy laptops and mobiles.

And as for people complaining about change, the Dalek design is the first time I agree. Everything else had reason.

I think the crack is going to be at the end of each episode

so altered universe is an interesting theory

It does feel like that, doesn't it?

And I had the oddest disconcerting feeling that I was watching an episode from the 1980s last night - the visual style and general approach seems to be more like those episodes than the last few years.
