Thought I'd dislike it, or take a couple of episodes to get used to it, but happy to be proved wrong.
Loved it, can't wait for episode 2. Proud of the BBC.

Might take a while to get used to the theme though, it doesn't really go anywhere.

After going in with a few aprehensions, I felt afterwards that I'd enjoyed a great hour's worth of fine entertainment. I think I'd readily agree with all of Ronnie's observations - and hopefully we'll never have to hear 'I'm sorry. So, so sorry' ever again.

Matt Smith is now the Doctor, and I thoroughly enjoyed Karen Gillan's performance as Amy (superb expressions throughout - especially during the Doctor's changing of clothes proving she'll be okay against the Weeping Angels as she didn't blink once). Finding the young actress they did to play Amelia was great casting in both her similar looks and her mature acting ability.

I wasn't too sure about the 'eyeball' aliens, but there have been worse and whilst the glimpse of the previous Doctors was good, it wasn't necessary - especially after 'The Next Doctor'.

Overall I think it was pitched just right - humour, drama, fantasy - and the incidental music was in keeping with the prior series. Only the theme music and titles let it down.

apparently the two actresses playing Amy / Amelia are cousins

like the new tardis and the fact it isn't just one room like the previous one, even in the classic series the tardis had another door to the rest of it, and we did see the rest of it as well.

BBC Micro? BBC B? Acorn? What do we think?

I think my review is the same as everyone elses, didn't like the titles but loved everything else. I think that's all that needs said. And the reveal of her being a kissogram after all that Daily Mail huffing and puffing over her short skirt was *fab*

Unfortunately, it just looks like a multicoloured keyboard.

aww Sad

is murray gold still doing the music by the way because I did notice how much nicer and subtler that was throughout the episode. Even during the long trailer at the end which is a big music piece it was far nicer than what would have been on this sort of trail during the last series.

No expert on this sort of thing, but if Amy was getting married the next day, wouldn't she have still been wearing an engagement ring in the last scene?

I actually preferred the new opening sequence in Doctor Who Confidential, but I expect the main music will grow on me quite quickly. Laughing

Definitely a good opener to the series though anyway (and better than some of the previous openers we've had in the new serieseses), so I can't wait to see what the rest of the series has to offer. It's the first time I've been able to catch the show broadcast in HD too, and I have to say it looks fantastic, particularly the new Tardis set!

I enjoyed that, warmed instantly to both Matt & Karen, a good solid opening episode, 9.5/10 for me, I'm looking forward to next week Smile
