An excellent start and surely must of beat Ant and Dec.

Dr. Who got an average of 9.9 million with a peak of 10.5 million viewers. Ant & Dec attracted 7.2m viewers, peaking at 8.5m.

I was expecting Dr.Who to take a much bigger lead to be honest -considering all the hype. Ant & Dec held out rather well considering Takeaway is pretty stale now.

Next week will be more interesting - I think Dr.Who's audience will drop a little.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I think the complete opposite. I think Billie Piper is a really good actress and she carried the show very well.

Her facial expression when she first walked into the TARDIS was absolutely priceless.

Shame that the same can't be said about the actress playing her mother. I thought it looked rather forced in the scene inside her living room.

Now doesn't that prove the point that if you put a decent programme on(both on the BBC & ITV) it will get a decent audience. 19 million people watching at one time. Well done to the BBC and indeed ITV.

Well done to Dr Who for beating Takeaway, Dr Who was brilliant and they deserve to get higher ratings.

I know im normally ITV biased but in this instance the BBC was better so deserved to win.

I agree, and i also agree that you rarely praise the BBC over ITV.

The BBC was definitely the moral victor, as they have put a lot of money into this show. Not only the show itself but the publicity.

You are absolutely right, the BBC were putting on a good quality, popular ALTERNATIVE to the programme on ITV - not just a shabby clone of a-n-other ITV programme. If they'd just shoved on another game show like they do normally I wouldn't have bothered tuning in.
